Jorhat is located at . It has an average elevation of 56 metres (183 feet). The climate in Jorhat varies from hot to cold. The temperature ranges between a maximum of 40°C and a minimum of 10°C. The weather remains dry for most part of the year, except during monsoon season when it rains heavily for about 3 months. During this time, the city gets flooded and water logging is common in many areas including Bhalukpong which lies on NH-37(old no: AH2) near Tezpur Road railway station area as well as other parts like Mariani etc., where there are large number of tea gardens around it making them prone to flooding every year due to heavy rainfall during monsoons.
