Guntakal is a City in Anantapur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the headquarters of Guntakal mandal in Anantapur revenue division.It is also the headquarters of the Guntakal Railway Division in South Central Railway.

 It is located at a distance of 52 km from the district headquarters Anantapur.
Guntakal Junction railway station, which serves Guntakal city, has an average elevation of 543 metres (1,778 feet). It lies on the Howrah-Chennai main line and is administered under Guntakal railway division of South Central Railway zone.
