About Antigua Guatemala

The city had a population of some 60,000 people (in 2012) living in a land area of some 0.8 square kilometers (200 acres). The city is home to numerous colonial-era buildings built during the Spanish colonial period including the "Casa de Recaudación" and the old cathedral. The Central Market is also located here; it was rebuilt after an earthquake destroyed much of downtown Antigua Guatemala in 1773. Also located here is The Museum for Regional Arts and Culture as well as several international banks such as HSBC, Scotia Bank, Banco Industrial and Banco de Credito del Peru among others...
