About Saint-Jean-de-Monts
It is a seaside resort on the Atlantic Ocean, in the western part of Vendée. The town has a sandy beach and attracts many tourists during summer. The commune was created in 1872 by detaching its territory from that of La Faute-sur-Mer which it had previously absorbed.[1] It takes its name from Saint John the Baptist (French: saint Jean). Inhabitants are called Saint-Jeannais or Saintjeannaises.
