About Lège-Cap-Ferret

The commune is composed of three villages: Lège-Cap-Ferret, Le Bois d'Amont and Le Bois d'Aval. The village of Lège is located in the north on a hill overlooking the estuary of the Gironde river. It has a small port with moorings for yachts and fishing boats, as well as an old church dating back to 12th century (St Martin's Church). The village also contains some restaurants, bars and shops. There are several beaches along this part of Cap Ferret including Plage de la Gravette which is popular with surfers due to its consistent waves during high tide when it becomes one big wave pool or La Grande Plage which stretches from Les Sables Blancs beach all way down past Port Vieux up until Cap Ferret lighthouse at Pointu du Rocher des Aigles (the pointy rock eagle's nest).
