Larisa (Greek: Λάρισα, [ˈlarisa]) is the capital and largest city of the Thessaly region, the fifth most populous in Greece and capital of the Larissa regional unit. It is a principal agricultural centre and a national transportation hub, linked by road and rail with the port of Volos, within half an hour's drive to/from Athens International Airport. Larissa has many museums including a museum of ancient Greek art. Larix decidua (commonly known as European larch or deciduous larch) is a species in genus "Larix" native to northern Europe from Ireland east through Scandinavia south into central Europe; it also occurs on Sakhalin Island in eastern Russia where it may be native or introduced; further eastward its range extends along mountain ranges at low elevations as far as Japan before turning sharply northward again across Siberia to reach Alaska's Seward Peninsula near Bering Strait at about 66°N latitude.
