Dinan is on the Côte d'Émeraude of Brittany, along the River Rance. Inhabitants of Dinan are called dinannais in French. History [ edit ] The town has a medieval centre, with many shops and restaurants in the streets around Place des Cornières (Corn Exchange Square). The square was built on top of an old stream that was covered up during one of Dinan's many expansions.[2] Many notable buildings surround this central area, including several other palaces such as those belonging to members of the Breton aristocracy like Anne de Bretagne and Yolande de Dreux who were born here; or religious buildings like Saint-Corentin church where Joan Of Arc prayed before setting off for her battles.[3] The old city walls can easily be seen climbing their way around hillsides surrounding this part.
