Le Grand-Bornand is located in the French Alps, at the foot of Mont Blanc. The commune lies within Vanoise National Park and has a ski resort, with downhill skiing available on five pistes (the longest being 1.8 km), as well as cross country skiing trails and snowshoeing routes. There are also several ice skating rinks for public use during winter months.[1] The town is served by Le Bourg – Le Fréchet Airport which has flights to Geneva International Airport operated by SkyWork Airlines.[2] It was previously connected to Chambéry via rail until service was discontinued in 2014 due to financial difficulties; however there are plans for it to be reopened between 2017–2019[3][4].
