The population of the Regina CMA as of 2016 was 236,481; making it the second-largest city in Saskatchewan. The City of Regina has seen a steady increase in its population over past years, and many areas have experienced a sharp rise in growth rates since 2010. In fact, according to Census Metropolitan Areas (CMA)s Projections: Section 3 – Population by Year and Sex (2016 Base), between 2011–2015 there was an average annual growth rate of 1.9% within the Regina CMA which is higher than any other CMAs across Canada except for Calgary (+2%) and Edmonton (+1%). This increase reflects net international migration outflows from Saskatchewan but also interprovincial migration into Saskatchewan with particular increases noted among people moving here from Alberta (-3%), British Columbia (-4%), Ontario (-6%) as well as Manitoba (−7%).
