The name "Greenfield Park" was chosen to reflect the fact that most of the land in this area was undeveloped at the time. The borough's territory corresponds exactly to what had been Greenfield Township, which existed from 1845 until 1912 when it became part of Longueuil. Greenfield Park is located on Montreal's South Shore and is bordered by Saint-Lambert, Brossard and LeMoyne. It has a total area of 4.78 km² (1.85 mi²), making it Quebec’s smallest borough in terms of size as well as population density (10,854/km²).
