About Windsor

It is known for its southern charm and downtown riverfront parkland. Windsor's economy is mainly based on manufacturing, tourism, high technology, and telecommunications. The city has a diversified economic base in automotive production (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Canada operates an assembly plant at the Pacific Avenue Assembly Plant), agriculture (potatoes are grown in Leamington), steel production (Stelco) as well as insurance/financial services industries; health care also forms a significant part of the local economy. Other key employers include the University of Windsor (including Windsor Regional Hospital), Hiram Walker Distillery, Caesars Windsor casino resort ,and two universities: St. Clair College and Assumption College School which maintains secondary campuses throughout Southwestern Ontario including one located within Downtown Detroit called "University of St Mary". It was also ranked by American website Business Insider as one of North America's most attractive post-recession cities to live in with low unemployment rates compared to other major Canadian cities such as Toronto or Vancouver .
