About Ancaster

Ancaster is located in the Hamilton Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) and the Golden Horseshoe region of Ontario. It is situated on the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and part of Canada's Greenbelt. The escarpment can be accessed from many locations within Ancaster, including along Mountain Brow Boulevard which runs north-south through most of Ancaster or at any point along its eastern edge where it borders Dundas Valley Conservation Area. The town itself has two major parks: Pioneer Park near downtown at Wilson Street West & Wilson Avenue North; and Meadowlands Park to its east off Golf Links Road East between Highway 403 & Upper James Street South/Upper Paradise Road South). Both parks offer outdoor swimming pools open during summer months as well as tennis courts, baseball diamonds, soccer fields etc., with Meadowlands also offering an 18 hole golf course maintained by Hamilton Golf Club Inc..
