The community is home to the Fall River Water Aerodrome, a small airport located on Miller Lake. The airport was built in 1941 by the Royal Canadian Air Force as part of RCAF Station Dartmouth and was used during World War II for training purposes. It is now owned and operated by Transport Canada as an active aerodrome with no scheduled services but available for use by private pilots or charter companies. Fall River has two schools: one elementary school (K-6) which opened in January 2010; and one high school (7-12), which opened in September 2011 after being relocated from its old location at Highway 118 near Waverley Road to a new site off of Highway 253 near Miller Lake Drive, just north of Bedford Basin Parkway/Highway 102 interchange.
