About Cape Breton

The island has five reserves of the Mi'kmaq Nation: Eskasoni, Membertou, Wagmatcook, Waycobah, and Potlotek/Chapel Island. Eskasoni is the largest in both population and area. The island's northernmost extremity is Cape North; its southernmost point is Cape Sable. Its westernmost point is Barrington Point (the eastern tip of which separates Chéticamp Harbour from Roussin Bay). The island has fourteen counties: Inverness County on mainland Nova Scotia; as well as Victoria County on Cape Breton Island itself; along with all but one county in each of Prince Edward Island (Cumberland), New Brunswick (Kings), Quebec (Antigonish) and Newfoundland & Labrador (Victoria).
