About Squamish
Squamish is also the home of Squamish Terminals, a bulk cargo transfer facility. The port was built in the early 1970s to replace an older one in nearby Anmore, British Columbia. It is now owned by Port Metro Vancouver and operated by DP World Canada (formerly known as Dubai Ports International). Squamish has been designated a Canadian Heritage River for its natural environment and history of resource extraction activities along its banks. In addition to providing recreational opportunities such as camping or hiking, it provides habitat for fish and wildlife species at risk including bald eagles, peregrine falcons, black bears and river otters.
