About Prince Rupert
The city is named after Prince Rupert of the Rhine, the first Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company. The Port of Prince Rupert is located on Ridley Island and has a container terminal and an oil refinery. The port can handle container ships with capacities up to 10,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units). It also handles bulk cargo such as coal, logs, pulpwood and ore pellets.
