The City of North Vancouver was incorporated in 1890. It is the second-smallest municipality in British Columbia, after the Village of Queen Charlotte. The city's boundaries are roughly equivalent to those of the old Districts 3 and 4 (North and West) respectively, which were formed when Greater Vancouver Regional District was created on April 1, 1967; however it has no land area or population with which to be associated as a district.
