About Carstairs

The first church was built in 1903. The town's population has grown from a few hundred people to over 5,000 since the 1970s. The town is now home to several businesses and services including a hospital, schools (K-12), recreation facilities and parks. Carstairs also features an 18-hole golf course that attracts many tourists each year as well as being one of the most popular courses in Alberta for local players; it is known for its challenging layout with large elevation changes on every hole making it ideal for all levels of play. In addition there are two other 9 hole courses located within 15 minutes drive from Carstairs which provide additional options for golfers who enjoy this sport or are looking to improve their game at reasonable rates compared with Calgary or Edmonton area clubs/courses . Carstairs' economy relies heavily on agriculture: crops include canola, wheat and barley; livestock includes beef cattle (both feeder calves & finished animals) hogs & sheep along with poultry operations producing eggs & broiler chickens plus dairy cows providing milk products such as cheese curds etc..
