Baron Jean Michel P.M.G. de Selys Longchamps DFC (31 May 1912 – 16 August 1943) was a Belgian aristocrat and RAF fighter pilot during World War II. He is chiefly known for his single-handed attack on the Gestapo headquarters in Brussels in German-occupied Belgium.




Early life
Selys Longchamps was born in Brussels, Belgium. He was the son of Baron Jean de Selys Longchamps (1877-1941), a Belgian aristocrat and aviation pioneer who had served as an officer in World War I and founded the Belgian airline SABENA. His mother, Marie Henriette Lippens (1884-1972) belonged to another prominent family of industrialists from Antwerp.
