The belfry of Nieuwpoort is the second tallest in Belgium, after that of Brussels. Nieuwpoort has a railway station which opened on 26 June 1841 and was closed during World War I but reopened in 1923. The train services are operated by National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS).
