Main article: History of Brussels (region)The earliest traces in present-day Brussels are found on a site known as "terrain à Bracbat", which is now a part of Anderlecht, where archeologists have found stone tools from about 75,000 years ago. Later evidence includes Neolithic flint tools from between 4600 and 4400 BC discovered in Schaerbeek; these are considered to be some among the most ancient human artefacts ever found in Belgium.
