About Kufstein

Kufstein is located in the centre of Austria on both banks of the river Inn. The municipal area stretches along the Inn valley between Innsbruck and Rosenheim, and comprises several smaller valleys, such as those of Kitzbühelbach to the north-east or Schwanenstadt to the south-west. Neighbouring municipalities are Wörgl (Tyrol) in East Tyrol across Lake Wörth, Ried im Oberinntal at West side over Lake Achensee from Kufstein town proper; Steeg at South side over Lake Zeller See from Kufstein town proper; Schwaz (Tyrol) at North side over River Loisach from Kufstein town proper; Reutte (Bavaria), also a Bavarian municipality but belonging to another district ("Landkreis"), lies opposite it on an island between two arms formed by a tributary stream called "Inn" flowing into River Inn near its mouth.
